Assistant Quantity Surveyor / Infrastructure

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor in the Bristol area to effectively carry out quantity surveying duties as directed by the Commercial Manager/Senior Quantity Surveyor/Quantity Surveyor as appropriate, ensuring that projects are managed effectively in line with my client's governance, policies, and procedures.

Main Responsibilities

As well as either having or working towards an appreciation and knowledge of the activities listed below, the Assistant Quantity Surveyor should look to apply their knowledge and learning in their day-to-day duties. The Assistant Quantity Surveyor will assist the Commercial Team and other members of the project team in the following activities.

Assist and support the financial and commercial processes, commercial management and contract administration, familiar with standard forms of contract such as NEC, FIDIC and JCT, assist with the use of planning and programmes, assist with cost planning and pre-contract cost control, project/commercial management reporting, assist with recording works progress and assessing the effects of delay, prolongation and disruption, assist with the interpretation and development of bills of quantities, schedules of rates and activity Schedules.

The Ideal Candidate

The perfect candidate will need to demonstrate they have the drive and ambition to fulfil the roles responsibilities, be motivated, eager to progress their career and carry out their duties in a safe and efficient manner, an excellent communicator, client-focused with good commercial awareness.

You will also have:

  • 1 - 2 year's previous experience in quantity surveying or a similar role, ideally in the utilities or infrastructure sectors
  • A valid driving licence as there will be a need to travel within the South West
  • Excellent knowledge of standard forms of construction contracts notably NEC
  • Have excellent numeric and computer literacy skills
