Job Title: Estimator
Location: Wandsworth

Thorn Baker's established, high-end refurbishment client is looking for an Estimator to join their team, with the opportunity to eventually lead their own estimating team.

Playing a pivotal role in the pre-construction phase, you will be working closely with the business director to provide accurate cost and resource estimates for some of their most prestigious clients.

About you:

• Degree or Higher Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field is preferred but not essential.
• Relevant experience within the role of an estimator within the construction sector and transferrable skills will also be considered.
• Background of working within the refurbishment and fit-out sector preferred.
• Sound knowledge of construction methodologies, materials, and building codes/regulations.
• Proficient in Microsoft packages including excel workbooks, estimating software and tools to generate accurate estimates.
• Adaptable, able to work to multiple people's specifications and needs.
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills with acute attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Motivated and precise

Your Responsibilities:

• Reviewing project specifications, drawings, and other relevant documents to develop detailed and accurate estimates.
• Build strong working relationships to guarantee further work tenders with clients.
• Conducting site visits to assess project scope, identify potential challenges, and gather essential information for the estimating process.
• determine the most cost-effective and reliable options.
• Assisting in the negotiation of contracts with subcontractors and suppliers to secure the best terms for the company.
