Job Title: Quantity Surveyor
Location:Bristol

Thorn Baker's uniquely collaborative construction partner for commercial and residential projects are looking for an Estimator to support them with their growth in demand. Boasting hundreds of projects completed across 3 core sectors over 14 years in the business they have a proud reputation for operating responsibly and ethically.

You will be responsible for pro-actively managing the production of commercial information throughout the duration of a project and/or roll out program, ensuring that sufficient funds are allowed to deliver the project on time, safely, profitably and to customer satisfaction, and identifying and driving opportunities for improvement in customer service, safety, quality, and profitability.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Fully understand the terms and implications of project contracts or framework agreements and ensure that project costs reflect these.
  • Prepare project costs using agreed Schedules of Rates, built up net costs, sub-contractors quotes and agreed mark-up for general overhead, indirect overhead, direct overhead, riskand profit.
  • Ensure that sub-contract and purchase orders are issued accurately, on time and to reflect that nature of the project contract.
  • Maintain a full understanding of the developing project and amend costs to reflect this, ensure that variation information is issued and approved to timescales that facilitate successful project delivery.
  • Pro-actively monitor and negotiate sub-contract variations to agreement.
  • Identify and highlight risk and work with the project team to eliminate / reduce this.
  • Prepare accurate project Cost Value Reconciliations and report these at staged valuations and final account.
  • Attend site meetings as required.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum qualificationHND in Quantity Surveying / Construction Management.
  • At least 3 years'relevant experience (fit out and refurbishment of retail, offices, hotels, schools, care-homes, healthcare) within the last 8 years.
  • Fully conversant with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Full UK driving licence.
