An established Mechanical Contractor is seeking an experienced, client-facing Senior Project Manager to be based on-site in Portsmouth. Senior Project Manager Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, taking ownership and responsibility for the successful delivery of projects
  • Ensure projects are delivered within budget and on schedule, administering the contract and overseeing the commercial performance of the projects
  • Manage the change control process by documenting early warnings, preparing variations and change requests, and negotiating and implementing changes with the client
  • Create and maintain design programmes, identifying key risks, dependencies, and resources
  • Identify and monitor project risks and opportunities, assessing and implementing mitigation measures as needed
  • Administer projects under various forms of contracts, such as NEC
  • Implement quality management processes for project activities and outputs
  • Effectively manage stakeholders, taking into account their levels of influence and specific interests to achieve desired project outcomes
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams across the business
  • Oversee subcontractor and supply chain performance
  • Build strong relationships with clients and members of the cross-functional team
  • Manage bid processes for design tenders for both standalone projects and framework contracts

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience in managing the delivery of projects in water engineering
  • Strong collaboration and coordination skills with teams, clients, and stakeholders
  • Excellent commercial awareness, with experience in monitoring and controlling engineering budgets and managing change processes
  • Experience in bid management and preparation of design fee proposals
  • A degree or equivalent in a related engineering subject
