Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor

Thorn Baker's leading technical and energy client is looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their Specialist Services team. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for managing all costs relating to building engineering projects from initial calculations to final figures, minimising costs and enhancing value for money, ensuring the required standards and quality are maintained throughout the process.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Support the operational team in the commercial processes to ensure turnover and profit targets are met.
  • Provide accurate internal reports to the Commercial Manager within the required timeframes, including CVRs, cost plans, cash flow and revenue forecasts.
  • Managing risk & cost to ensure highest value possible.
  • Proactive involvement in procurement, cost management and reporting.
  • Build and maintain sub-contractor accounts and liaise with appropriate bodies throughout the project.
  • Ensure timely preparation and submission of all documents - tender, contracts, bills of quantities, etc.

Required Skills:

  • Educated to HND or Degree level in quantity or building surveying or a construction-related subject.
  • Demonstrable commercial experience.
  • Mechanical & Electrical quantity surveying experience in a building services background.
  • Experience administering industry standard forms of contract, in particular NEC and JCT.
  • Commercially astute, numerate, risk averse & able to accurately forecast cost & sales.
  • IT Literate familiar with Microsoft Office Suite, with system experience in CPA, Coins, or similar
  • Sound understanding of the implications of Health and Safety regulations.
